Company Description

Many of the most popular and effective dietary supplement products sold in health food stores contain ingredients from Sabinsa. Committed and dedicated to the principles of innovation, tradition and research, Sabinsa supplies high-quality innovative standardized herbal extracts, phytonutrients, probiotics, enzymes, spice extracts, minerals, specialty chemicals and fine chemicals for applications in dietary supplements, functional foods, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. The natural extracts and phytonutrients are derived from botanicals with a long history of traditional food, medicinal and cosmetic use. Every product is backed by application-oriented scientific research. Sabinsa Corporation has developed novel approaches to retaining the biological activity of these ingredients while simultaneously addressing formulation challenges and product safety criteria.

Sabinsa’s main manufacturing facilities have achieved international GMP certification in addition to other quality certifications recognized globally.

Although many investment groups have tried to buy Sabinsa because the company has been successful for over two decades, the company is still privately owned, which enables it to make long-term decisions rather than short-term, profit-motivated ones. This means that each product is carefully researched before being offered for sale.

Because the company’s raw materials are crops (herbs and spices), the company has invested heavily in establishing relationships with and supporting its supplier farmers. Sabinsa helps them with the financing to begin the growing season, teaches them how to protect against environmental contaminants and guarantees the harvest. This enables the company to have a steady supply of quality raw materials, while improving the lives of farming families in developing countries.

What’s New?

Some of the category updates Sabinsa’s researchers have produced include:

Celery Seed Extract. The extract from the seeds of Celery or Apium graveolens is an excellent source for antihypertensive support. Celery Seed extract is standardized to 10% 3-n-Butyphthalide, the compound responsible for the taste of celery is useful for managing conditions such as hypertension. The hypotensive action is probably due to blocking the influx of Ca+2, thus lowering the systolic blood pressure. Studies have also shown the neuroprotective effects of 3-n-butylphthlides in conditions such as Parkinson’s disease.

Eclipta Alba. This well-known herb from the Ayurvedic tradition, also known as False Daisy or Bhringraj, is widely distributed in the Indian subcontinent. It is a source of coumestan-type compounds. The extract from Eclipta alba is standardized to 50% wedelolactones. Wedelolactone is one of the main active principles of Eclipta alba exhibiting antihepatotoxic activity. It is a well-known liver tonic in Ayurveda and has been widely used in India for liver ailments such as jaundice and infectious hepatitis. The hepatoprotectant activity of Eclipta alba has been well-studied and compared with the standard hepatoprotective agent silymarin.

Beet Root Extract. Beet root extract, obtained from roots of Beta vulgaris and standardized to compounds such as nitrates, betacyanins and betaxanthins, is an excellent source for cardiovascular support. Beet root is a rich source of antioxidants and minerals. Nitrates present in Beet root can provide protection against coronary heart disease. Betalain pigments such as betacyanins and betaxanthins make it a natural food colorant.
