Boulder, CO-based New Hope Natural Media, a division of Penton Media Inc., announced a new partnership with the Organic Trade Association (OTA). Under the agreement, Penton will acquire the All Things Organic tradeshow, the organic community’s leading business and educational gathering place in North America. All Things Organic will now co-locate with Natural Products Expo East, beginning with this year’s conference to be held October 13–16 in Boston, MA, and will be the branded organic pavilion for North American organic companies exhibiting at the tradeshow. The OTA stated that the partnership will extend for at least seven years.

The California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment has found that acrylamide meets the criteria for listing as a reproductive toxicant under the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 and issued a notice of intent to list this chemical under Proposition 65.

Archer Daniels Midland Co., based in Decatur, IL, was ranked the most admired company in the food production industry for the second year in a row by Fortune magazine.

According to the American Beverage Association, leading non-alcoholic beverage companies will make the calories in their products clear and consumer-friendly by putting the information on the front of all their packages, vending machines and fountain machines. The companies will coordinate with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to implement the calorie initiative, and start implementing the initiative across the United States this year with completion in 2012. Some are also committing to reducing the beverage calories in the marketplace through innovation, smaller portion sizes and marketing initiatives.
