Denver, CO.—Ardent Mills, a premier flour milling and ingredient company, will host a series of growers meetings as a way for farmers to learn more about their Organic Initiative 2019, which Ardent Mills announced in Mid-December. The goal of the initiative is to help U.S. wheat farmers double their organic wheat acres by 2019.

“We're very eager to work with farmers as they transition to this growing market and to provide our customers with an assured supply in support of their new product and menu introductions,” says Mike Miller, Ardent Mills VP of Risk Management. “We are certain that current demand will continue to increase well into the future. We've heard from farmers we work with, and we understand the barriers faced when shifting a portion or all of their crops to organic.”

Providing additional information about organic wheat certification is Oregon Tilth, a leading nonprofit certifier, educator and advocate of organic agriculture. “As farmers join this effort, they will have direct support services, workshops and long-term contracts for transitional and organic wheat bushels," says Shrene White, director of specialty grains with Risk Management, Ardent Mills.

Attendance for two meetings is still open. They are scheduled as followed:

1. Fort Morgan, Colorado on Friday, January 22, 12 to 4 p.m. at the Country Steakout, 19592 E. 8th Avenue (with lunch provided).

2. Pocatello, Idaho on Wednesday, January 27, 12 to 4 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel, 1555 Pocatello Creek Road (with lunch provided).
