Sabinsa Corporation of East Windsor, NJ received several new patents recently. OcuFors received a patent from the Japan Patent Office, the U.S. Patent Office has awarded a patent for the “preparatory route for dipeptides incorporating selenoamino acids,” and the New Zealand Patent Office awarded a patent for SelenoForce. The firm has 74 patents worldwide.

Innovative Cosmetic Labs of Northridge, CA, a body care manufacturer, received GMP certification from the State of California Department of Public Health Food and Drug Branch. The manufacturer formulates derma e Natural Bodycare’s skin care line.

Following its July Board of Trustees meeting, the American Herbal Products Association of Silver Spring, MD added grapefruit seed extract to its Guidance Policy of Known Adulterants. It also identified several “known potential adulterating agents”: benzalkonium chloride, benzethonium chloride, triclosan, methyl paraben or any other synthetic antimicrobial agent.

Zychrome from InterHealth Nutraceuticals of Benicia, CA has been determined Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) for use in both food and beverages.

Next Pharmaceuticals of Salinas, CA earned KOF-K Certification for Relora and Seditol.

Ganeden Biotech of Cleveland, OH received a letter of no objection for the GRAS status of GanedenBC30 (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086) from FDA. Says the company, “GanedenBC30 is the first Bacillus strain to receive GRAS status; Ganeden Biotech spent the last six years developing and implementing trials to prepare for the full GRAS filing.”

Prostate Optimizer from Jarrow Formulas now includes Frutarom’s Go-Less, a blend of pumpkin seed extract and soy germ isoflavones.

CreAgri, Inc. of Hayward, CA, received the Paris Polyphenols 2012 Award for the “most effective, innovative and sustainable process to recover healthy polyphenols from agricultural biomass.”

Pharmachem Laboratories Inc. of Kearny, NJ acquired aloe vera manufacturer Improve USA of
DeSoto, TX.
