HealthCo (a division of NOW Health Group, based in Bloomingdale, IL) announced that its Stevia FSE ingredient now has GRAS status. The ingredient, which also is certified organic and kosher, is suitable as a food ingredient in bulk powder, private label consumer sizes and food-service bulk packets.


innoVactiv of Rimouski, QC, Canada launched its InSea2 ingredient at Vitafoods under a co-marketing agreement with Algues & Mer of Ouessant Island, France.


Nebraska Cultures, Inc. of Walnut Creek, CA will now offer custom, private-label versions of its top probiotics and will partner with contract packagers to create such custom-labeled probiotic powders, capsules and tablets.


Nutricap Labs announced that it created a new division: Vitacap Labs. This branch is intended to offer private label supplements in small quantities.


According to Cyanotech of Kailua-Kona, HI, the stability of BioAstin oleoresin is now guaranteed for two years, and in most delivery systems, it will remain stable for an additional two to three years after production.

Lacey, WA-based Aloecorp, Inc. announced that its Qmatrix aloe vera now has GRAS status.

Lonza, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, chose its “leading high-tech life-science site in China” to be the new manufacturing facility for its vitamin B3. The change will help Lonza increase its manufacturing capacity for this product by 40%. The site should be ready to produce vitamin B3 in 2012.


DSM Nutritional Products, based in Parsippany, NJ, shared new clinical data indicating its geniVida Bone Blend increases bone mineral density by as much as 3.4% in post-menopausal women after only six months of supplementation.


FDA issued a guidance intended to help food manufacturers evaluate how to handle products created just before such a boil-water advisory is issued. The guidance is available at www.fda.gov/FoodGuidances.
