Algalif Receives Funding, Expands Manufacturing Capabilities

May 6, 2019
Reykjanesbaer, Iceland—Algalif, producer of astaxanthin from microalgae, announced in a press release new funding and an expansion of its manufacturing capabilities.

Recent funding was received, the release says, through grants from The Icelandic Centre for Research’s Technology Development Fund and the European Union’s SME Instrument program to help the company continue its research on algae forms, production methods, and applications.

Upgrades and the installation of new spray-drying equipment immediately allow Algalif to supply whole-algae biomass ingredients, according to the release. Improvements to the production process will help ensure the long-term maintenance of the quality, stability and efficacy of the astaxanthin.

Orri Björnsson, CEO of Algalif, said in the release: “These investments and expanded manufacturing capabilities reflect Algalif’s ongoing commitment to quality development and process improvement, and its innovation in delivering a wide range of quality algae ingredients.”
