Dr. Petra Illig

Dr. Petra Illig is a medical doctor in Anchorage, Alaska. She received her medical training from the University of Washington in Seattle and worked as an emergency medicine physician for 15 years. She then worked for the CDC for eight years as a Quarantine Medical Officer. Currently she runs a full-time aviation medicine practice (medical examinations for pilots). She became interested in Rhodiola rosea 12 years ago and started working with farmers to cultivate it in Alaska. She also is partnering with the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service to foster commercial cultivation and is coordinating several USDA research grants in best cultivation practices. Her goal is to produce the highest quality cultivated Rhodiola rosea in the world and to create jobs in Alaska by manufacturing products made from Alaska Rhodiola.
