Phoenix, AZ—Sprouts Farmers Market is recalling Frozen Cut Leaf Spinach conventional and organic 16oz bags, because the product may be contaminated withListeria monocytogenes, according to astatement made through FDA.Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

No illnesses have yet been reported in connection to this product.

The recall is due to random sampling. The products have been removed from all Sprouts stores, and Sprouts is conducting an internal investigation to ensure all food safety standards are being met and enforced. Customers who purchased the products are asked to destroy it or to return it to the stores for a full refund.
