Silver Spring, MD—In response to a recall issued by Mann Packing Co., Whole Foods Market is voluntarily recalling multiple products, ranging from Vegetable Power Blend to Broccoli Roasted Paleo to Cashew Chicken, according to a notice from FDA. The full list of products and affected states can be viewed here.
The vegetables may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and others with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea; Listeria can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, and fetal infection among pregnant women. No illnesses have yet been reported.
The affected products were available on salad and hot bars, chefs’ cases, or packaged in plastic containers. The products were sold between October 10 and November 4. Customers who purchased the product can bring a receipt into stores for a full refund.
