ORGANIC BUTTERY SPREADS

MELT^® Organic (whose parent company is Prosperity Organic Foods Inc.) made some exciting new additions and improvements to its line of healthy spreads in 2014. First, the company’s original Rich and Creamy flavor is now vegan, adding to a list of valued attributes. The entire MELT Line is Non-GMO Project Verified, trans fat-, gluten- and dairy-free, while containing no artificial flavors or colors. MELT also uses eco-social and fair trade ingredients.

In addition to making its original flavor vegan, MELT also added a new flavor with Chocolate MELT. Chocolate MELT combines virgin coconut oil, organic cocoa, organic wildflower honey and organic vanilla extract to serve as an alternative to other chocolate spreads. Chocolate MELT is dairy free, vanillin free and nut free, only containing ­one gram of sugar per serving. MELT says that this makes it a great snack, lunch or healthy treat for both children and adults. Rounding out the line of spreads is Honey Melt.

The entire MELT line is available in 13-oz. square packages, with 80 calories and nine grams of fat per one tablespoon serving. Each serving is a source of “good fats,” balancing omega-6 and omega-3 ALA, as well as containing vitamin E.
