Chromium Picolinate Supports Blood Sugar Balance in Several Ways

New research published in the  Journal of Trace Elements in Medicine and Biology by researchers from Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil suggests oral chromium picolinate (CrPic) may help those interested in blood sugar balance.

A group of 71 type-2 diabetics took either CrPic (600 μg/day) or a placebo for four months. Everyone followed a diabetes-friendly diet and took their medication during the study. By the end of the study, both groups had reduced fasting glucose concentration, but the supplemented group had had even better results (−31.0 mg/dL versus −14.0 mg/dL). The same was true for glucose concentration after meals (−37.0 mg/dL in the supplemented group; −11.5 mg/dL in the control group).

After supplementation,  HbA1c values (measuring glycated hemogobin) went down in the supplemented group (−1.90) and in the control group (−1.00).
