Utah—Natural products industry champion Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) is one step closer to keeping his seat in Congress. In a sweeping victory over opponent Dan Liljenquist, Hatch won his party’s nomination with 67% of the vote.

Hatch has served as a U.S. Senator for 36 years already, and hopes to make another four if he can beat out Democrat challenger Scott Howell. Hatch is the favorite in this race.

The Senator is the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee and serves on numerous subcommittees. He was a key player in the passing of the Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act of 1994 and continues to fight for the natural products industry on Capitol Hill.
