Los Angeles, CA—JSL Foods, a third-generation family owned company, announced the launch of “Fortune Cares,” a charitable donation program to help families affected by food instability issues. Named after the company’s Fortune Noodle brand, JSL said this program will be an ongoing initiative that will identify non-profit organizations that are aligned with its mission and values.

Prior to COVID-19, research showed that 48.1 million people lived in food insecure
households, including 15.5 million children, JSL Foods reported, adding that the company feels it is important to give back to the most vulnerable in our communities who are struggling with economic losses due to COVID-19.

Consumers are invited to “Post A Recipe To Make A Difference:” From July 1 to September 1, 2020, JSL Foods will donate $5.00 to charity for every recipe posted by consumers using Fortune Noodles on social media using the hashtag #FortuneCares. For influencing a $5.00 contribution, JSL says, consumers have a chance to win 10 cash prizes. One $500.00 winner will win for best recipe and nine winners will take home honorable mention recognition of $100.00. JSL Foods will also provide all consumers who post a recipe with free Fortune Noodle coupons. JSL Foods also will donate a portion of all Fortune Noodles sales in 2020 to charity with a first year estimated program value of $25,000.

“I know I speak for all of our employees when I say that we feel a deep responsibility to do our part to help address this crisis in the many communities in which we live and work,” said Teiji Kawana, President of JSL Foods, in a press release. “We stand in harmony with the heroic people who are tirelessly and selflessly working to end this pandemic, and it is our hope that through Fortune Cares, we are able to provide food relief to families affected by this pandemic.”
