Austin, TX—The American Botanical Council will celebrate the 14th annual HerbDay on May 4 with a variety of herbal educational activities, according to a press release.
The HerbDay event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at ABC’s headquarters at Case Mill Homestead, 6200 Manor Rd., in East Austin, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Speakers include Tieraona Low Dog, M.D., founder of Medicine Lodge Ranch and internationally renowned expert in herbal medicine and women’s health, who will present an educational session titled “A Physician’s Top Ten: Herbs for Common Ailments.” Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of ABC, will give a presentation titled “Humorous Health: Conventional and Alternative Medicine, Pharmaceutical Drugs, Diet, and Lifestyle as Seen through Cartoons.” There will be two herb walks through ABC’s gardens.
“HerbDay is ABC’s opportunity to reach out to the public and share its love of the plants and educational mission,” ABC special projects director Gayle Engels said in the release. “Visitors get to meet the beneficial plants we grow and soak up some of the knowledge and expertise of the herbalists who give presentations and herb walks.”
