CRN Announces New Assistant General Counsel, Promotions

Washington, D.C. – Megan Olsen has joined the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association for the dietary supplement and functional food industry, as its new Assistant General Counsel.  She will report to CRN president and CEO Steve Mister.

Olsen most recently held the position of special counsel for Wiley Rein LLP in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, she spent over two years as senior counsel at the Walgreen Co.

Her experience includes advising companies on federal and state consumer protection laws surrounding the marketing, labeling, and distribution of dietary supplements, food, drugs, and other consumer products and services regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). In addition, she has extensive knowledge assisting dietary supplement and food companies with product label review, claim substantiation compliance, and marketing dissemination legal adherence.

CRN also announced five staff promotions. They are:

Tammie Betway to Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the President

Betway joined CRN in 2007 as the senior executive assistant to the president and CEO. She coordinates the president’s calendar, oversees logistical arrangements for Board of Director meetings, and coordinates communication between the president’s office and member companies. In addition to those duties, she will now work closely with the vice president, finance and administration to handle additional administrative and managerial functions to ensure the CRN office runs smoothly and efficiently.

Amour Clinton to Scientific and Regulatory Associate

Clinton came to CRN in 2016 as an administrative assistant. She provides administrative support to CRN’s Science & Regulatory Affairs department and oversees logistics of CRN’s annual Day of Science. In her new capacity, she will assume additional responsibility for CRN’s docket management and support for CRN’s scientific and regulatory committees.

Maya English to Senior Manager, Education & Events

English started at CRN in 2016 as the manager, education & events. She manages logistics for CRN’s educational events, including conferences and webinars, and oversees the maintenance of the association’s member relations database. As CRN expands its range of educational offerings for both CRN members and non-members, English will have expanded oversight of this programming along with member outreach.

Haiuyen Nguyen to Senior Director, Scientific & Regulatory Affairs

Nguyen joined CRN in 2007 as the research assistant, scientific & regulatory affairs, and was first promoted in 2010 to research manager, scientific & regulatory affairs. Over the next six years, she held progressively more responsible positions in the Scientific & Regulatory Affairs department, with a promotion to director in 2016. She co-manages CRN’s annual Day of Science and handles external relations for several of CRN’s self-regulatory coalitions and projects, including the SIDI Work Group.

Holly Vogtman to Communications Associate

Vogtman started at CRN in 2016 as the communications assistant. She serves as the primary contact for trade press reporters who cover the dietary supplement and functional food industry and plays an integral role in executing the Communications department’s promotional and publicity activities. Vogtman’s promotion recognizes her expanding responsibilities for multi-channel communication initiatives at CRN and increased responsibility for gaining visibility for CRN’s efforts on behalf of the industry.

In addition to this, CRN welcomed eight new companies. The following voting members are:

AlgaTech (Algatechnologies) Ltd. is an innovative biotechnology company specializing in the development and commercial cultivation of microalgae for human and animal health benefits.

Gemini Pharmaceuticals, Inc. provides cGMP compliant contract manufacturing and product design services for science-based nutritional supplements and private label over the counter pharmaceuticals.

Nutraceutical International Corporation manufactures, markets, distributes, and retails branded nutritional supplements and other natural products in the United States and internationally.

Olly PBC develops gummy vitamins and benefit-specific wellness boosts along with probiotic powders and plant protein.

The following associate members are:

Aptar Group, Inc. provides a broad range of innovative dispensing packaging systems and sealing solutions for food, beverage, OTC pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, beauty, personal care, home care, prescription drug, consumer health care, and injectable markets.
