Better Health Networks is proud to announce that 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of The Dr. Bob Martin Show being in national radio syndication.
Hosted by Dr. Bob Martin, the program, which focuses on healthcare topics that can be addressed naturally, airs live on Sundays from 6:00–9:00 a.m. from 125 different radio stations on both FM and AM frequencies.
Like many radio shows, The Dr. Bob Martin Show began with an urgency to get a message out.
“It occurred to me early on when I started in practice that most people who come in the door never really had anyone talk to them or teach them anything on how to stay healthy," said Martin, DC, CCN, DACBN, ABAAHP. “It’s always about fix it when it breaks.”
Unfortunately for Martin, when growing up, he suffered from a variety of health conditions such as “asthma, allergies, sinus problems and chronic bronchitis.” While he had no aspirations of ever going into the healthcare field, he decided to change his plans once he was healed through natural means.
After starting his practice, Martin received his start on radio by being a guest discussing how individuals can relieve stress in a natural way. He states that it was an “exhilarating experience” to reach thousands at one time.
To continue the opportunity to help individuals around the city he lived in, Martin found a local radio show and paid for an hour of air time.
As his show grew in popularity, Martin moved to bigger radio stations and was even asked to start hosting a two-hour show.
“It became so popular that health food stores, grocery stores and all kinds of sponsors wanted to be featured, says Martin. “So they expanded it from two hours to three. The show sold out again so they expanded it to four hours. It was now a four-hour show on the weekend, where people could call in and ask questions about anything they wanted; from headaches, to erectile dysfunction to eczema.”
After five years,Martin's show was rolled into a nationally syndicated program.
Now ranked one of the largest and longest running alternative health show on the weekend in the United States, Martin’s next plans is to continue to garner more stations and try to squash any misinformation generated against the entire natural nutrition lifestyle.
“Most of the criticism is born out of someone being ignorant or poor information," Martin replied. “I actually love addressing any question related to this. Every time there’s something in the news that I think is incorrect or bias, I take it on the show.”
Martin also has additional radio programs geared to natural healthcare on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. and 10–11 a.m on Sundays.
