UPDATE 3/1/20: KeHE Cares and its partners have taken precautionary measures due to the COVID-19 and cancelled the Serving Goodness Event, according to the company. KeHE noted that thousands of boxes of healthy food have been donated to Children’s Hunger Fund. These boxes will provide over 150,000 meals to local Orange County families in need.
Naperville, ILL—KeHE is planning a food packing event at Natural Products Expo West, according to a press release, looking to fight food scarcity.
KeHE and their philanthropic arm, KeHE Cares Foundation, debuted the event last year, where they packed 2,000 boxes, or 100,000 meals. This year, they have a new goal: 3,000 boxes, equaling 150,000 meals, in two and a half hours.

Laura McCord, KeHE’s Executive Director of Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility, said in the release: “When we learned that almost 1.7 million people in Los Angeles County are living below the poverty line, we knew we wanted to do something to help. As KeHE continues to evaluate our impact, we wanted to help those that are hungry as well as encouraging our fellow Expo West attendees to do the same.”
Ari Goldsmith, KeHE’s VP of Marketing, added: “Food industry trade shows like Expo West are known for their never-ending aisles of trending health food products. We are privileged to be in a community of abundance. We are pleased to come back this year with another opportunity that allows others to share the abundance with those in need.”
The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. PST on March 5 in the white tent outside the Anaheim Marriott. Volunteers will pack boxes including staples donates by KeHE supplier partners including Walnut Acres, Arrowhead Mills, Cascadian Farms, Annie’s Homegrown, Sahale, Nutiva, and more. The boxes will be distributed to families in need by the Children’s Hunger Fund.
