In October, NeoCell of Irvine, CA, began a three-month campaign whereby the firm promised to give 25 cents for every unit that shipped from its warehouse to Vitamin Angels. Neocell has partnered with Vitamin Angels for three years, and hopes to reach 500,000 children this year. Recently, Jessica Mulligan, Neocell’s vice president of sales and marketing, spent a week in Peru with Vitamin Angels observing vitamin distributions in the Peruvian Andes. Heather Wainer, WholeFoods Publisher, was on the same trip.

Mulligan stated, “In the U.S., we often think of vitamins as a ‘nice to have’, something that might give us a little more energy, but for the most part, the benefits, although there of course, are somewhat unnoticeable. It’s because we have pretty nutrient rich diets…The communities I visited in Peru have the worst undernutrition rates in all of Peru….BUT Vitamin Angels’ vitamins are making a world of difference.”
