Washington, D.C.—Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D., President and CEO of the Natural Products Association (NPA) appeared on the TODAY show alongside Vicky Nguyen to discuss the benefits of collagen supplements, according to a press release.

Dr. Fabricant recommended that consumers follow the science on collagen benefits, noting that there are over 2,000 studies on the nutrient. Collagen has been shown to help build muscle mass, help plump the skin, and help manage osteoarthritis.

The press release also cites dermatologist Dr. Ellen Marmur, who has said that she has seen evidence of collagen improving skin conditions in some of her patients.

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, making up 30% of the body’s protein. It is found in the skin, muscles, ligaments, tendons, bones, and joints.
