Earthcycle Packaging and Sunset Foods (an Illinois-based retailer) joined up to offer shoppers a variety of produce packaged in compostable material such as Earthcycle’s eco-conscious palm fiber trays. These trays will decompose within three months. The pair also educated consumers about sustainability in honor of Earth Day.

Derry, NH-based MegaFood issued a voluntary product recall of its Essentials Joint Strength formula because the company discovered the product did not contain the amount of chondroitin sulfate listed on the label. The recall affects four lots, and any affected retailers were notified. The error was traced back to a supplier error; that raw material supplier is no longer used by MegaFood. The Organique by Himalaya skincare line from Himalaya Herbal Healthcare USA received Premium Body Care certification from Whole Foods Market.

Natracare of Aurora, CO received the HSBC Commercial Banking’s SME Award at the International Trade Awards 2010. According to the company, this award is given in recognition of “excellence in importing, exporting and international trade.”

ConAgra Foods, Inc. of Omaha, NE was acquired by Elan Nutrition of Grand Rapids, MI. Jarrow Formulas’ Inositol capsules were featured on the April 8 episode of The Today Show, which covered lung health.

Carlson Laboratories of Arlington Heights, IL is holding its second annual fish oil recipe contest. Creative chefs are invited to submit recipes that use at least two tablespoons of Carlson liquid Norwegian Fish Oil to the company for a chance to win one of three cash prizes. Durango, CO-based Zuke’s received an investment from Encore Consumer Capital. This funding will “grow the brand with leading pet specialty, natural products and outdoor products retailers,” says Zuke’s.
