San Francisco, CA—Instacart is about to launch curbside pickup nationally, according to Supermarket News.

Instacart Pickup is a click-and-collect service in which customers either go to Instacart.com or use the mobile app, choose their city and store, add groceries to their cart, and select a pickup time window before checking out. They receive an in-app alert when their order is ready, send an in-app notification to their Instacart personal shopper to let them know when they’re on their way, and wait in the designated pickup location for the shopper or store associate to bring them their groceries.

According to Reuters, it will be offered through nearly 200 stores spread over several states, and Instacart intends to work with new and existing retail partners to add the service to more stores through 2019.

Customers can get fresh produce, seafood, and meat, along with packaged goods.

The service is offered by current Instacart delivery partners like Publix, Sprouts Farmers Market, Wegmans, Aldi, Food Lion, Tops, and Price Chopper.

Instacart said that the national launch comes after positive feedback from grocery retail partners who participated in a months-long pilot of the service, which is free for members of the Instacart Express program.

Nilam Ganenthiran, chief business officer at Instacart, said that “For families that are out and about and running errands, a pickup solution might be a better fit for their family rhythm.”
