Naperville, IL—KeHE Distributors has partnered withClean Energy Fuels Corp.to add low-carbon emission trucks fueled with renewable natural gas (RNG) to their California fleet in 2020, a press release says. By swapping five diesel trucks with natural gas trucks, KeHE expects an annual carbon reduction of 674 metric tons—the equivalent of planting 11,120 trees and recycling 235 metric tons of landfill waste.

Clean Energy’s Redeem RNG is a low-carbon alternative fuel produced from organic waste, the release says. It has been proven to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 70% versus diesel. Clean Energy’s Zero Now is an ultra-clean fuel and engine combination to help achieve zero emissions in the trucking industry.

Each of the five Kenworth compressed natural gas tractor trucks will travel approximately 90,000 miles per year, using about 15,000 gallons of renewable natural gas per truck annually.
