Tommy Mottola, former chairman of Sony Music, is now part of the O.N.E. (One Natural Experience) board of directors.

Willie and Carlos Tamayo, the founders of Santa Rosa, CA-based La Tortilla Factory, were recognized by the Sonoma County Business Hall of Fame for their “significant contribution to the community’s economic vitality.” The pair gave opportunities that have positively affected the local Hispanic community.

Janet Carver, Culinology group leader for Bridgewater, NJ-based National Starch, was named president of the Research Chefs Association.

Don Walstad is now the sales/procurement manager for the intermountain west region of Coast Produce Company, based in Los Angeles, CA.

Beaverton Foods, Inc. of Beaverton, OR hired a new eastern regional sales manager: Deb Sullivan, who will be based in Utah.

Union, NJ-based MORRE-TEC Industries and Extracts & Ingredients Ltd. announced that Mike Travers is now part of their team. Travers will serve as director of business development, bringing 34 years of chemicals experience to the table.

Beverly Weathers joined Earthbound Farm of San Juan Bautista, CA as southeast regional sales manager.

The Natural Products Foundation has a new executive director: Deborah Knowles. Knowles was previously the group’s director of development after coming from the Dietary Supplements Education Alliance.

In other news, the Natural Products Foundation added six new members to its board of directors: Carilyn Anderson of Carlson Labs, Jane Drinkwalter of Vitamer Labs, Peter Hafermann of Alix Technologies, David Matteson of Early Edge Solutions, J.D. Weir of Primus Pharmaceuticals and Bruce Worley, Jr., of Humphreys Pharmacal.

Health Plus of Chino, CA hired James Beever to be its director of quality assurance/quality control and research and development. Beever will be in charge of Health Plus’s new in-house QC/QA laboratory. In addition, the company hired a full-time graphic artist: Paulette Sorhaindo. New to the sales team are Jesse Anderson (sales and project manager) and Tony Reynoso (sales manager for natural products stores in the New York City area).

Blackwood, NJ-based Caesar’s Pasta Products promoted Glenn Miller to zone manager. He will be in charge of the foodservice division and hiring new sales managers.

In Memoriam
John McLoughlin, 69, passed away in May. McLoughlin had been with Soft Gel Technologies for 15 years, most recently serving as the company’s sales director. Previously, he worked in sales at Banner Pharmacaps. “John was a true friend and an invaluable asset to our company,” said Steve Holtby, president and CEO of Soft Gel Technologies, Inc. “He treated everyone with respect and wasn’t afraid to share his sense of humor. Most importantly, he served as a mentor to those he worked with, especially within our Sales Department. We feel fortunate to have such a wonderful man be a part of our team. He will be sorely missed by all of us.”
