Eden Prairie, MN—The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized several UAS Laboratories’ probiotic products because the agency believes they are being marketed as drugs. This action follows a facility inspection from earlier this year when FDA found the company was making disease claims despite several warnings.
In a prepared statement, UAS Laboratories clarified that the products’ safety and efficacy are not in question. “People do not need to worry about the probiotics they are taking,” the firm stated. UAS Laboratories also stated that it is working with FDA to change language on its Web site so as to be in compliance with the agency’s rules about structure/function claims.
The seized products include DDS Acidophilus, DDS Plus, Probioplus DDS, DDS Junior and Cran-Gyn DDS.
