Bodybuilder and fitness legend Joe Weider passed away at the age of 93 due to heart failure. Weider helped put the sport of bodybuilding on the map, and was influential in shaping the career of Arnold Schwarzenegger as a weight lifter. He founded several major bodybuilding events and won the Mr. Olympia title seven times. He was a founder of the Weider brand of nutritional products.
At the end of March, the nutrition industry lost one of its pioneers: Connie Skolnick. Skolnick had three sons, including the late Rand Skolnick (former president and CEO of Solgar Vitamin and Herb). Mrs. Skolnick and her husband Allen founded Solgar and taught their son every aspect of the family business.
