Carver, MA—A placebo-controlled cross-over trial showed that whole cranberry powder (PACran from Decas Botanical Synergies) helped to stop E. coli bacterial adhesion better than a placebo.
E. coli bacteria, which causes 85–95% of urinary tract infections, struggled to cling to cell walls significantly more after subjects ingested the whole cranberry powder. The supplement was most effective between nine and 36 hours after ingestion.
Conclusions drawn from the study were that if whole cranberry powder were to be administered clinically, it would be a powerful way to help ward off urinary tract infections.
