Laval, QC, Canada—Rebounding from the November 8, 2012 explosion that destroyed its plant and killed three workers, Neptune Technologies & Bioressources Inc. announced in May its plans to resume operations.

The company reported that it has made “good progress” to achieve its main goals, which are to restore and ramp up its long-term supply chain (including rebuilding its plant), establish new third-party manufacturing partnerships and secure a supply of raw materials.

Neptune stated that it has the permits in hand to rebuild its plant, which will be reconstructed at an adjacent facility that was being expanded at the time of the explosion. Once complete, the site will be able to make more than 150,000 metric tons of krill oil per year. The project will cost $30 million.
