NOW Foods recently launched a new prenatal supplement, offering complete prenatal nutrition for mother and child. Prenatal Gels + DHA is a comprehensive multiple vitamin and mineral supplement that provides 800 mcg of folate (folic acid) to aid against spinal defects in babies as well as 27 mg of iron for muscle development while providing non-constipating iron support for mothers. Also included are 125 mg of borage oil, which is a natural source of gamma linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid, and 400 mg of calcium (extracted from Aquamin Red Algae Sea Minerals, calcium citrate and calcium ascorbate); without proper levels of calcium, the mother’s body could potentially leach calcium from her bones in order to support the fetus, possibly causing problems for herself.

Each serving of three softgels contains 250 mg of DHA, an essential fatty acid that has been shown in studies to aid in healthy eye and brain development in fetuses. In addition to the DHA, these prenatal softgels provide 650 mg of natural fish oil concentrate that includes 90 mg EPA in every serving.
