AB Biotek Human Nutrition and Health (HNH) have released adiDAO microencapsulated, an ingredient format intended to optimize the delivery of the DAO enzyme, allowing it to be combined with other functional ingredients. DAO (diamine oxidase) helps break down dietary histamine, the company explains, which could result in gastro-intestinal issues, skin conditions, lower urinary tract symptoms, and more. HNH’s formula allows DAO to be surrounded by two food-grade protect layers, created using a coating technology. This helps optimize delivery to the small intestine. The technology is suitable for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical uses, including tablets, stick packs, liquid suspension formats, gummies, and capsules. It may also help simplify the production process and reduce manufacturing costs, the company says.
