Women In Nutraceuticals Establishes WIN Awards
Women In Nutraceuticals (WIN) is setting up a new awards program to celebrate the contributions and achievements of individuals who have advocated for gender equality, driven research innovations, excelled in mentorship, and contributed to WIN's programs in the nutraceutical sector. The new award categories will be:
- WIN Guiding Star Award, honoring of an extraordinary individual focused on mentoring and elevating women in the industry;
- WIN Champion Award, presented to a company or organization setting the gold standard for supporting and championing women in the industry;
- WIN Research Pioneer Award, celebrating of individual making contributions to the advancement of research for women's nutraceutical products;
- WIN Heroine Award, recognition of an individual for their volunteer efforts towards advancing WIN's mission.
Nominations for each category will open on June 3 and close on June 30, well in advance of the awards presentation taking place at SupplySide West 2024. "Each of these awards reflect WIN's commitment to acknowledging and amplifying the voices and achievements of women and their allies in the nutraceuticals industry,” said Petra Erlandson, Director of Sales and Marketing at Alkemist Labs and WIN awards committee chair.
GlucosaGreen Receives Four New Certifications
With environmental concerns being top of mind for consumers, product certifications are playing a more significant role in product differentiation amongst shoppers. GlucosaGreen, the vegetarian glucosamine supplement produced by TSI Group LTD, has received four new product certifications. PhytoGaia Collaborating with Monash University
PhytoGaia has entered into a Human Clinical Research Collaboration Agreement with Monash University to investigate the nutrigenomic impacts of STGaia and its effects on skin beauty, skin health, anti-aging, and hair growth. Alterations in Skin Hydration, Moisture, and Genomic in Subjects with Dry Skin Conditions following Daily Oral Palm Tocotrienol and Squalene (STGaia) Supplementation will be a randomized placebo-controlled (RCT) study of the benefits of STGaia for individuals dealing with dry, scaly, itchy, and aging skin. The data collected will also be used to determine its effects on gene expression and skin health at the molecular level.

Roquette Launches NUTRALYS Protein Isolate
Roquette has introduced its first fava bean derived protein isolate, NUTRALYS Fava S900M, in its European and North American markets. The newest member of its plant protein product line, NUTRALYS features high gel strength, viscosity control and stability under varying conditions with a clean taste, light color, 90% protein content that can be used in non-dairy alternatives, baked goods, ready-to-drink drinks, yogurt, and meat substitutes. Nektium Secures BioTrade Permit
Nektium has obtained the Nagoya BioTrade permit for sustainable honeybush sourcing. Found in the Cape Floral Kingdom of South Africa, the naturally sweet, caffeine-free tea is rich in antioxidants and health promoting bioactive compound mangiferin. With its new permit, granted by the South African Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Nektium's R&D department will focus on developing a honeybush ingredient that can be used in food, beverages, and supplements.
As part of the negotiations for acquiring its permit, Nektium will provide internships to members of the San Council of South Africa and the National Khoisan Council in addition to sharing profits from any honeybush ingredients with both councils. Nektium will also work with local raw material supplier, Agulhas Honeybush Tea, to gurantee sustainable cultivation of wild honeybush stocks, encourage agricultural biodiversity, and promote carbon sequestration.
