Washington, DC—Regulatory, intellectual property, and litigation boutique law firm, Amin Wasserman Gurnani (AWG), has introduced Robert Durkin as the newest partner and co-chair of their Regulatory Group in Washington, DC. The firm, specializing in the food and beverage, nutritional supplement, cosmetic, pet health, and medical device industries, will have "Bob" Durkin co-lead regulatory practice with firm partner and well established team member, Rend Al-Mondhiry.
“I look forward to strengthening the group’s powerhouse status alongside Rend,” stated Durkin. "She builds and expands longstanding client relationships, and her entrepreneurial drive is second to none."
Durkin, a well-known advisor on complex compliance and enforcement matters, spent 12 years at the FDA undertaking roles including Acting Director of FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) Food Defense Staff, where he lead the team responsible for determining the best regulatory strategies to protect U.S. food supply from intentional contamination. He also served as Deputy Director of the Office of Dietary Supplement Programs (ODSP) in CFSAN and participated in various agency working groups—the agency-wide Marijuana Working Group, the agency-wide CBD Policy Working Group, and the agency-wide Investigational New Drug (IND) Policy Working Group.
“Attracting nationally recognized leaders like Bob is a testament not only to our work on the most sophisticated matters before the Food & Drug Administration, Federal Trade Commission, National Advertising Division, and in the courts, but also to our culture,” said AWG Managing Partner Ivan Wasserman.
