Members of the Mid American Health Organization (MAHO) held a vote at their Annual Business Meeting on Sunday, July 28, to determine the institution's future after receiving notification of a possible takeover by a sister association to branch into a new national organization. Retailers and supply side members voted unanimously for MAHO to remain as an independent organization to advocate and be committed to the independent retailer side of the industry.

With the vote to remain independent secured, the organization will remain the only industry trade association located in the Midwest that focuses on the independent retail segment of the Natural Products sector. MAHO will also continue to pursue collaboration opportunities with other industry associations, service providers, and programs, to hold events like MAHO's sold out 2024 "Summer Splash" Convention, which hosted 101 exhibitors and 151 independent retail attendees from 77 stores.

MAHO said positive messages about this years MAHO Expo have been pouring in via text, emails, and social media. Kathy Smith, Vital Planet, wrote: “So happy to see so many retailers at MAHO this Year! Thanks to Marcy and Diane for their constant dedication to keeping this show going and GROWING! Also kudos to the MAHO Board - Ya’ll brought it this year!” Dr. Jason DuBois, Hybrid Remedies said, “Another successful MAHO Show. I’ve grown very fond of this show for so many reasons. But the biggest one is the wonderful people that come to this show. The connections I have and make at this show are genuine.”

In 2025, MAHO will celebrate 50 years of having been incorporated with a "Cheers to 50 Years!" theme during its MAHO Expo event in Columbus, OH.
