CRN Reveals Innovation Exchange Lineup

The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) has announced the topics for its inaugural Innovation Exchange event taking place during the CONVERGENCE '24 showcase. The Innovation Exchange will take place on October 9, and consist of seven 25-minute presentations covering:

  • Sugar Reduction with Allulose—The Holy Grail of Sugar Replacement
  • Prenatal Nutrition Innovation: How Balchem’s Portfolio Supports Mom and Baby
  • Next Gen of Supplementation from Broccoli
  • Lactoferrin's Role in Beauty from Within and Women's Health
  • CurQ+, a Next-Gen Curcumin Formulation to Support Joint and Bone Health 
  • Innovative Approaches to Sleep Health: The Science and Benefits of RelaxPLX
  • Transforming Mental Wellness: The Future of Biotics with AI/ML and GABA Probiotic, LP815

The subjects were chosen by experts from Jamieson Wellness, Nestlé Health Science, Pharmavite, Plexus Worldwide, and USANA. Susan Hazels Mitmesser, Ph.D., Chief Science Officer at Pharmavite, will moderate the event. She shared her thoughts on the upcoming discussions: “The selected proposals demonstrate the emerging science that companies are investing in to help develop innovative solutions for products that address consumers’ health needs and wellness goals.”

ALDI Keynotes PLMA Tradeshow

PLMA's 2024 Private Label Trade Show keynote speaker will be ALDI President, Dave Rinaldo. On November 18, at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare Chicago, Rinaldo will headline the Keynote Breakfast “Hungry for Value: How Retailers and Manufacturers Can Fuel the Private Label Boom." He will be sharing his thoughts on the significance of the all-time high demand for private label, the industry's potential for continued growth, the retailer mindset, and how the private label industry can make the most of this historic moment. 

Rinaldo joined ALDI in 2000 as a district manager trainee. Since then he's held various roles within the company including a three-year term as president of ALDI Australia before becoming the company president in 2020. He currently oversees the brands product, marketing, and sustainability strategies while traveling throughout the U.S. to lead operations of regional warehouses and stores.

Ingredients By Nature Collaborates with Kourtney Kardashian Barker

Ingredients by Nature has announced its most recent brand and distribution partnership with Lemme, Kourtney Kardashian Barker’s line of vitamins and botanical supplements. The line of GLP-1 Daily capsules features a botanical blend of three clinically validated bioflavonoids including the award-winning patented lemon extract blend, Eriomin to boost GLP-1 levels, suppress cravings, and support healthy weight management.

Vita Coco and Becky G Building Greenspace

The Vita Coco company, Inc. is collaborating with international recording artist, actress, activist, and Vita Coco Brand Ambassador, Becky G, to bring a brand new greenspace to her childhood elementary school in Inglewood, CA: the Oak Elementary School. The fully customized 2,1000-square-foot greenspace was designed with input from the school's Parent-Teacher Association, local community leaders, and brought to life by landscape architecture design studio, TERREMOTO.

The multi-functional space project features garden plots, compost bins, fruit trees, and is part of Vita Coco's social impact program, the Vita Coco Project (VCP), which aims to support farmers, sustainable farming practices, and support its suppliers' communities. “Growing up, my Inglewood community shaped who I am today,” said Becky G. “Partnering with Vita Coco to reimagine a space where students can learn and play means everything to me. We wanted each element to be intentional, reflecting my own experience in middle school and addressing the needs and dreams of the community.”

Arla Foods Ingredients Launches Protein Campaign

Arla Foods Ingredients is hoping to inspire diary manufacturers to come up with new high-protein products with its latest "Go High in Protein" campaign. This latest engagement showcases the brand's Nutrilac ProteinBoost range of patented microparticulated whey proteins and how their use aids companies overcome technical challenges and create high-protein dairy products with appealing taste and texture. The campaign also includes details on a new virtual protein seminar that will feature presentations from expert speakers, a "Test your protein knowledge" quiz, and information on five new concepts featuring Nutrilac ProteinBoost including two new recipes for high-protein dairy products that do not require refrigeration and three other recipe concepts for a 10% protein ice cream, a high-protein non-fat drinking yoghurt with fruit, and a 12% protein spoon-friendly yogurt.

GBL-Memory Expands Accessibility with New Partnership

Green Bioactives announced its newest strategic partnership with Nutra Bridge to increase the promotion and distribution of GBL-Memory in North America. GBL-Memory is a nutraceutical complex featuring a patented combination of FOS and L-theanine that has shown an improvement of up to 10.1% in total memory with 30-days of use in a recent study published in the journal Food Science and Nutrition.

The joint venture between the companies will look to take advantage of the Nutra Bridge network and industry expertise to introduce the plant-based ingredient to brands throughout North America offering a wide range of products including dietary supplements and functional foods and beverages. "Building on our success in Europe, we are excited to partner with Nutra Bridge to introduce GBL-Memory to the North American market... Natac Opens Omega-3 Plant

As Somozas (La Coruña), Spain, is now home to an omega-3 plant that will refine, deodorize, and bleach omega-3 oils from fish in order to maintain their characteristics, quality, and develop new ingredients for the food, nutraceutical and animal nutrition spaces, according to Natac Group. The factory, which is located on a 28,000 m2 plot of land, houses its own laboratory and the most up-to-date omega-3 processing technology available, and has a production capacity of up to 10,000 tons per year of premium quality omega-3 oils, the company reports. The facility began producing successful oil production tests in July and will be operated by a team of 35 employees once it reaches full production capacity.
