Lonza is a leading manufacturer of L-carnitine, sold under the brand name Carnipure™. L-carnitine is a nutrient that plays an important role in energy metabolism. The proprietary and fully backward integrated Carnipure™ production process was invented by Lonza scientists in Switzerland. It directly produces the L-isomer of Carnitine, the form found in nature. L-carnitine is found in infant formulas, multivitamins and a wide variety of health products. Carnipure™ crystalline and Carnipure™ tartrate are self-affirmed GRAS for use in certain conventional foods as a dietary source of L-carnitine. Lonza developed Carnipure™ tartrate as a non-hygroscopic alternative for solid and liquid applications in the early 90’s. Carnipure™ tartrate consists of 68% L-carnitine and 32% L-tartaric acid, which is the highest L-carnitine concentration of any current commercially available non-hygroscopic salt form. Both Carnipure™ crystalline and Carnipure™ tartrate are bright white, pH- and heat stable, highly water soluble and form colorless solutions.

ResistAid™ is a natural proprietary immune support ingredient that is formulated to deliver triple action immune benefits year round.  It is produced via a water based extracted patented process (US 5756098, EP 866808 and other patents) from larch trees that grow in abundance in the United States.  ResistAid™ consists of the soluble fiber arabinogalactan and bioactive flavonoids, thus has antioxidant capacity. ResistAid™ has a number of technical properties which makes it easy to incorporate into dietary supplements and functional foods in standalone form or combined with other products to increase functionality.  ResistAid™ is highly soluble in water, stable to temperature and has a low pH value.

Lonza is also the leading producer of the Vitamin B3 ingredients, Niacin and Niacinamide. Both Niacin and Niacinamide are essential vitamins used in food fortification, animal feed, multivitamin supplementation and pharmaceutical applications. Niacin is also used to maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
