A decrease in men’s testosterone level is a natural function of aging. Symptoms can include feeling excessively fatigued, weaker and depressed. One of the biggest worries faced by men with declining testosterone levels is the possibility that their sexual desire and performance will be affected. According to the National Institutes of Health, an estimated 30 million American men are affected by erectile dysfunction (ED), a condition marked by the inability to attain or sustain an erection. The odds of developing ED increase with age. About 4 percent ofmen in their 50s and nearly 17 percent of men in their 60s experience a total inability to achieve an erection. The incidence jumps to 47 percent for men older than 75. But while growing older can create stumbling blocks to a healthy sex life, ED doesn’t need to be an inevitable part of aging.
There are many things which can interfere with sexual pleasure. One needs to do a careful and comprehensive look at what could be influencing factors. For an obvious example, there are many medications which can interfere in one way or another. Smoking and alcohol consumption can be a factor. Stress, anger, fear can certainly intrude and make it more difficult to sustain desire and performance. The point is that you have to consider other factors in your life and deal with them as well. A good nutritional product can help, but it cannot fix the other issues that are under your control. Strive to understand what your influences are and make changes where you can.
In this interview with James LaValle, we will discuss some of the issues men face and what are some nutritional considerations. We discuss numerous nutrients that support male hormonal health.
