Leetsdale, PA; Anderson, SC—Continuing its push to remove dimethylamylamine (DMAA) supplements from the U.S. market, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now attempting to confiscate 3,200 cases of product from GNC. Prosecutors have asked judges in Pennsylvania and South Carolina—where GNC warehouses are located—to allow for the seizure.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, FDA visited a GNC facility, located in Leetsdale, PA, in early June and found boxes and shipping labels for several Jack3d and OxyElite Pro Super Thermogenic, both sold by USPLabs. These DMAA-containing supplements are should not be sold in the United States, according to FDA, due to safety concerns. More than 1,500 cases of DMAA supplements are stored at the Leetsdale warehouse, with even more stocked at a Anderson, SC, warehouse.

While USPLabs recently stated it would phase out DMAA from its line, GNC continued to sell the product and stated that it believes the ingredient is safe and legal.
