Laval, Québec, Canada—Neptune Technologies & Bioressources Inc. has appointed Jim Hamilton as its new president and CEO, effective February 2, 2015.

An industry veteran for over 25 years, Hamilton played a leading role in the development, manufacturing, marketing and sales of dietary supplement, food, animal feed, and personal care products during his career.

Hamilton is currently vice president of Human Nutrition and Health, North America, and president of DSM Nutritional Products USA, Inc., Parsippany, New Jersey. DSM Nutritional Products is an important division of the life sciences and material sciences corporation, DSM N.V. of the Netherlands.  Hamilton has also been a valued contributor to multiple trade associations as well as serving as the immediate past chairman of the Council for Responsible Nutrition(CRN).

In a statement, Pierre Fitzgibbon, chairman of Neptune’s board of directors, said, "As Neptune begins a new era, Jim is the right person to lead the Corporation forward into its next phase of growth and success," Fitzgibbon offered further praise, citing his “complementary abilities to the current management team, including strong human resources skills, a key ingredient for a leader." Hamilton was also optimistic about his new position, being “pleased and excited to be given the opportunity to take Neptune to the next level as it solidifies its supply chain and reaffirms its market leadership.” He noted that Neptune’s new plant and innovative offerings, combined with a growing consumer base, provided an ideal platform for the company’s future growth.
