Juvecol is a natural proteoglycan originating in salmon. It is intended to induce the production of collagen and hyaluronan and enhance the proliferation of keratinocytes.
The studylooked to address the problem of skin dehydration due to air conditioning, an issue likely to be exacerbated by pandemic lockdowns. 56 healthy subjects aged 20-58 years were randomly divided into two groups; one received 5mg of Juvecol daily for six weeks, and one received a placebo. Researchers measured skin moisture content and transepidermal water loss (TEWL) in the cheeks, neck, and legs, in order to properly assess change in skin condition.

The results: Subjects in their 40s saw a significant increase in facial skin moisture content, compared to the placebo group; women saw less TEWL in their legs.
