Emerald Forest Sugar, Inc. has switched the source of its xylitol-based products to U.S. domestic hardwood birch trees. Based on retailer and consumer requests, the company  made the switch to sustainable xylitol harvesting and manufacturing practices. Its products range from single-serve xylitol packets to xylitol gum and mints. Xylitol contains far fewer calories than sugar, for which it is an equal exchange substitute.
