We’re asking customers to share what they love about their local natural products store. This month, the spotlight shines on one shopper’s experience at Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck, NJ.
Delicious Orchards, a 60,000 sq. ft. retail market, sells fresh produce, homemade baked goods, prepared foods, deli and grocery items, with a devoted section for organic produce and organic grocery items. And setting the store apart, there is an outdoor cider cafe in the location’s apple orchard.
Growing up, it was a family tradition to pick up pies, donuts and cider at Delicious Orchards, shares Christie Maruka, CEO of Fashion Fix, LLC, and resident of Wall Township, NJ. Today, Maruka shops at Delicious Orchards weekly for produce and seasonal treats.
“The store is a one-stop shop, carrying everything from milk, bread and pasta to freshly ground coffee beans and stunning flower bouquets,” says Maruka. “I buy lots of fresh veggies, such as artichokes, romaine lettuce, squash, and always a bag of their cider donuts for my son. They are to die for!”
For the holidays, Maruka often picks up gift baskets of fruit and cookies to share with friends and family. With her go-go-go lifestyle, she’ll also stop at the store for a quick bite to eat and a cup of delicious coffee.
“Delicious Orchards is different than any other store I’ve shopped in—specifically, the arrangement of produce is always perfectly placed with expansive variety,” Maruka says. “And when it comes to the customer service, the staff is always accommodating and knowledgeable.”
Regarding philanthropy, Delicious Orchards is doing its share. The store donates to Barn for the Poor, inner city homeless shelters and the Ashley Lauren Foundation to raise money for children with cancer, says Maruka.
“Being able to shop local is easy—finding a store like Delicious Orchards is not,” says Maruka. “I am grateful that I live 15 minutes away. Being a healthy cook requires lots of fresh foods and having this kind of a selection is wonderful. I love shopping at mom-and-pop stores, and as an entrepreneur I can appreciate the hard work that goes into running and maintaining a business.”
