We’re asking customers to share what they love about their local natural products store. This month, the spotlight shines on one shopper’s experience at HiLife Vitamins, in Chatham, NJ.

Chatham, NJ resident Sandy Fiore has a list of supplements she takes regularly. As a woman in her 70s, she relies on certain vitamins and minerals to maintain her active lifestyle. Luckily for her, there’s a natural health food store under 5 miles from her home. HiLife Vitamins opened in 1971 and serves both local and international customers—including Sandy.

If you bump into Sandy in the store, you might find these products in her shopping cart: AZO Cranberry, Vitamin D3, PB8 Probiotic, Ubiquinol, GOLI Apple Cider Vinegar, B Complex, Fish Oil, Biotin, and Rosavin.

“I found HiLife Vitamins through a friend many years ago when it was a discount vitamins store,” said Sandy. “It has grown tremendously and they have the best vitamins.” The staff, she says, makes every attempt to get their customers what they need.

Sandy’s health journey started decades ago during her twenties. “I started reading about healthy foods and supplements. I was ahead of my time. I remember my father just looking at me and saying ‘what’re you doing?’ when I started supplementing.” What she’s learned: Natural products make a difference in a person’s life. While she doesn’t follow a certain diet, she maintains balance in the food she eats and tries to buy organic, grass-fed and caged-free when available.

During the pandemic, Sandy continued to shop in store. Yes, supplements are available online, but there’s something to be said about in-person interaction, she says. “The staff is very nice and I can ask them any question I have. They explain and inform what products are good for me—and what isn’t.”

An avid supporter of local merchants, Sandy enjoys discussing products with HiLife staff and learning more about what’s new—because to her, nothing competes with good customer service.
