The American Herbal Products Association of Silver Spring, MD, announced that Tami L. Wahl joined its staff as special regulatory counsel.

The International Probiotics Association chose George Paraskevakos to be its new executive director. Paraskevakos has served as the director of business development for Lallemand.

The International Aloe Science Council of Silver Spring, MD, has seven newly elected members on its board of directors. Holger Liepmann, executive vice president of nutritional products of Abbott Laboratories joined Enzymotec’s board of directors.

American Society for Nutrition and the Council for Responsible Nutrition of Washington, D.C., honored Denise M. Ney, Ph.D., and Giuliana Noratto, Ph.D., with the Mary Swartz Rose Senior Investigator Award and the Mary Swartz Rose Young Investigator Award. Ney, professor in the department of nutritional sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studies the safety and acceptability of glycomacropeptide-containing medical foods for those with PKU. Noratto, an assistant research professor for the School of Food Science at Washington State University, studies how nutrition affects obesity-related chronic diseases.

Alter Eco of San Francisco, CA, appointed Kate Tierney as its new president; Edouard Rollet, the company’s former president, will serve as co-CEO with Mathieu Senard. In addition, Alter Eco promoted Sam Shisler to national sales manager and asked Bryce Giuffra to lead western region sales.

Kennesaw, GA-based Deerland Enzymes named Gina Labellarte as its new research and development manager and Carol Maeder as human resources manager.

Amin Talati & Upadhye of Chicago, IL has a new member: Joseph E. Cwik. His specialty will be business and intellectual property litigation.
