426

The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) issued an expanded Hemp-CBD report, intended to help the herbal products industry understand the new regulatory landscape.

The report was created by AHPA in conjunction with legal and industry experts, according to AHPA’s press release on the matter. It is titled Status Report: Marketing of hemp and cannabidiol (CBD) products in the United States following passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. It provides up-to-date information on the status of operations and products, taking into account other current and relevant laws and regulations. It was expanded in January to address state and tribal legal authority and FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb’s statement on the use of hemp and CBD in dietary supplements. The status report is free, and can be downloaded here.

There is also an on-demand webinar on the topic available from AHPA: more than two hours of expert information on how the Farm Bill could affect companies that want to cultivate hemp crops or sell consumer goods that contain hemp and hemp-derived ingredients. Presenters include Michael McGuffin, president of AHPA; Will Woodlee, Esq., a partner at Kleinfeld, Kaplan & Becker; and Holly Johnson, Ph.D., chief science officer at AHPA. It was recorded on December 19th, and includes an extended Q&A session answering attendees’ specific questions. It is available here.

Also from AHPA, along with the Hemp Industries Association (HIA): A webinar scheduled for February 21, 2019, from 1:00-3:00 PM, aimed at further helping the herbal products industry to understand the regulatory landscape for Hemp and CBD products. Jane Wilson, AHPA director of program development and Cannabis Committee staff liaison, will be presenting a status report on the impact of the Farm Bill; Woodlee will give a report on Gottlieb’s statement; McGuffin will give an overview of the current regulatory landscape; and Johnson will present analytical methods for legal compliance. The webinar will have a Q&A session for attendees. More information regarding the webinar and how to register can be found here.
