Pet CBD Industry Booming

Rockville, MD–CBD is appearing more frequently in pet supplements and treats thanks to increasing demand for a product to help decrease pet stress, according to a press release from research firm Packaged Facts.

“Already, numerous companies are involved in creating CBD products for pets. With the current trajectory, various industry experts confidently anticipate the number of active participants in the segment to double next year,” said David Sprinkle, research director and publisher at Packaged Facts, in the press release.

In Packaged Facts’ 2018 Pet Owner Survey, 85% of dog owners and 38% of cat owners agree that “My pet sometimes has anxiety/stress issues.” Pet owners, the release says, are trying to take better care of pets emotionally as well as physically.

Though neither the FDA nor the Association of American Feed Control Officials has approved CBD for use in pet products, such products are flooding the market while carefully advertised as supplements or treats. The National Animal Supplement Council provides a quality seal audit program and keeps in contact with the FDA in order to reassure retailers and their customers of the quality of the product.
