Olam Extends Application Deadline for Innovation in Food Security Competition

London, England—Olam International Limited has extended the application deadline for its biannual innovation prize to March 15, 2021, according to a press release. The deadline was extended due to COVID-19.

The goal of the competition is to support innovations that will help reduce food insecurity. The program’s website notes that more than 820 million people regularly go to bed hungry, and that by 2050 there will be an additional 2 billion people in the world.

The Olam Prize for Innovation in Food Security is awarded in partnership with Agropolis Foundation, an association of 40 member institutions, public authorities, and civil society actors, all looking for dialogue and interaction on agriculture, food, and environment research.

The winner will receive a US$75,000 grant to scale the innovation.

“Olam is on a journey to reimagine global agriculture and food systems, and the Olam Prize recognizes scientists who are helping to lead the way,” said Kamesh Ellajosyula, Chief Innovation Officer for Olam Food Ingredients. “We want to give the greatest number of innovators the opportunity to participate in the program.”
