San Francisco, CA—Treasure8 announced a new partnership with PA Consulting aimed at reducing food insecurity and creating a better global food system.

Treasure8 is a technology company that uses proprietary and regenerative methods to provide nutritious foods at scale while battling climate change, often by upcycling food waste. According to a press release, the company and USDA have developed SAUNA dehydration technology, which is capable of preserving more of the nutritional value of dried food products than conventional methods, and can also upcycle surplus produce and food.

PA Consulting, the release says, is an “expert in end-to-end innovation,” with a record of partnering with startups and manufacturers to accelerate new technologies to market. The company works in sustainability to develop new circular products and services, such as technology that uses renewable paper-pulp and seaweed extracts as alternatives to single-use plastics.

In this partnership, PA will boost the scale-up and commercialization of the SAUNA technology and operations, while providing Treasure8 with access to its network of global CPGs, food companies, and manufacturers.

If COVID-19 has shown us one thing, it is that we need to systemically rethink and rebuild a new food system.”

Treasure8 co-CEO Derk Hendriksen added, “Any time we have an opportunity to expand our capabilities, we want to take advantage of it. And this is a huge one. PA is an established company with amazing diversity of talent, knowledge and networks, and it’s an honor to team up with them to make a difference.”

“It’s inspirational to find a like-minded, motivated and purpose-driven partner like Treasure8. We look forward to joining them in creating the rapid sustainable growth they require to have a positive impact on people and the planet, said Wil Schoenmakers, Global Head of Consumer Products & Manufacturing at PA Consulting, in the release. “The world’s food system needs to change. At PA, we are very aware of the urgent need to reduce food waste and increase nutritional security world-wide. We are proud to play our part—bringing ingenuity to life through exciting new collaborations and partnerships—we invite others to do the same.”
