Pollock Communicationsrevealed that in its national survey consisting of answers from 2,050 registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs), consumers are making a switch to more clean and natural habits. In 2018, RDNs predict fermented foods to be the number one superfood group, followed by avocado, seeds, nuts, green tea, ancient grains, kale, exotic fruits, coconut products and salmon.
Predictions from previous years have shown to be true. In 2012 it was predicted that consumers would move towards simple, clean ingredients and plant-based diets. Additionally, ketogenic and paleo diets have moved up in the rankings as predicted.
