Downers Grove, Il—Chris Sherrell, President and CEO of Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, has announced his departure from the company, according to a press release.

Sherrell has led Fresh Thyme since its beginning in 2012. It currently has 77 stores, primarily in the upper Midwest.

“I am extremely proud of the company I was able to build as well as our mission of bringing fresh and healthy food at an amazing value to dozens of communities,” Sherrell said in the release. “As happens with many entrepreneurs, as Fresh Thyme has matured, I am ready for my next challenge.”

Gerald Melville will take over as President. He last worked in Meijer, where he was a Regional Vice President of Stores, overseeing operations for nearly 50 Meijer supercenters. Before joining Meijer in 2009, he held a variety of senior leadership roles with Albertson’s and Supervalu.
