Salt Lake City, UT—The Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED) and Sociedad Nacional de Pesqueria (SNP) have entered a partnership acknowledging the key role of the Peruvian anchovy fishery in the omega-3 industry, according to a press release.

Peru is the largest fishery supplying omega-3 fish oils to the global supplement industry.

Under the terms of the agreement, 11 key Peruvian fishing companies—all members of SNP—will become members of GOED.

Ellen Schutt, Executive Director of GOED, commented in the press release: “Having the backing of Peruvian fishing companies is very important to GOED. Both GOED and SNP are focused on supporting the Peruvian anchovy business and we believe our common commitment, which brought this partnership to life, will help grow the category overall.”

Cayetana Aljovin, SNP President, added: “Peru is poised to become a leader in the production of omega 3 in the world, thanks to the diversity of hydrobiological products offered by its sea. The alliance with GOED will allow us to achieve that goal. We are committed to the well-being of Peru and the world.”
