Pasadena, TX—Kaneka Probiotics has achieved U.S. FDA GRAS Certification for its Cardio Probiotic product, made up ofLactobacillus plantarumKABP-011,L. plantarumKABP-012, andL. plantarum KABP-013.

The strains were initially isolated via a screening process designed to identify strains that have a beneficial effect on lipid metabolism, according to a press release. The resulting formula has been clinically shown to support healthy cholesterol levels already in a normal range.
